December 4, 2023 Massachusetts Paid Family and Medical Leave
The Massachusetts Paid Family and Medical Leave poster has been updated with an adjusted contribution rate and benefit amount under the state Paid Family and Medical Leave Act. Employers may deduct payroll contributions of up to 0.46% from a covered individual’s wages or other earnings, and the maximum weekly amount of benefits available to eligible individuals will increase to $1,149.90 per week. The Washington Paid Family and Medical Leave poster has been updated to reflect an increase to the cap of weekly benefits by the Washington Employment Security Department.  Effective January 1, 2024, the maximum allowed weekly benefits will increase from  $1,427 to $1,456. October 12, 2023 Minnesota Minimum Wage
The Minnesota Minimum Wage poster has been updated to reflect an increase in the minimum wage. The minimum wage for large employers will increase from $10.59 per hour to $10.85 per hour and for small employers from $8.63 per hour to $8.85 per hour effective January 1, 2024. The poster was also updated with information regarding the state’s new earned sick and safe time law. Effective January 1, 2024, employers are required to provide paid leave to employees that can be used for certain reasons, including when an employee is sick, to care for a sick family member or to seek assistance if an employee or their family member has experienced domestic abuse. Any willful violation resulting in the death of an employee, upon conviction of an employer, is punishable by fines, by imprisonment for not more than six (6) months, or both. The Connecticut Paid Sick Leave poster has been updated to reflect a new law that expands the reasons in which service workers may use state-mandated paid sick leave. The new law, in addition to previously covered absences, now requires employers to provide paid sick leave for a mental health wellness day, and  allows a covered employee to take leave if they are a parent or guardian of a child who is a victim of family violence or sexual assault. Employers are generally subject to both state and federal child labor provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Certain provisions of Maryland state law may be less restrictive than federal law, and employers covered by the FLSA that only follow a less restrictive provision of Maryland state law will be in violation of federal law.
