October 18, 2019 Maryland Equal Pay for Equal Work
The Maryland Equal Pay for Equal Work poster has been updated to reflect an increase in penalties for violations of the Equal Pay for Equal Work law. The law now authorizes the Commissioner to require an employer to pay a civil penalty equal to 10 percent of the amount of damages owed by the employer for violating the law if the employer is found to have violated the law at least two or more times within a three-year period. June 18, 2019 Maryland Minimum Wage
The Maryland Minimum Wage poster has been updated with information about lowering the allowable age for the subminimum wage rate and information for restaurant employers utilizing a tip credit. The poster was also updated with an increase in the minimum wage rate which will increase from $10.10 per hour to $11.00 per hour for all businesses effective January 1, 2020. The minimum wage will further increase effective January 1, 2021, from $11.00 per hour to $11.75 per hour for employers with 15 or more employees, and $11.60 per hour for employers with 14 or fewer employees. The Maryland Equal Pay for Equal Work poster has been updated to reflect two amendments to the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The first amendment requires an employer, during the hiring process, to provide the wage range for the position to which the applicant applied, and prohibits an employer from retaliating, seeking or relying on the applicant’s wage history in screening a job applicant.
