The Maryland Equal Pay for Equal Work poster has been updated to reflect an increase in penalties for violations of the Equal Pay for Equal Work law. The law now authorizes the Commissioner to require an employer to pay a civil penalty equal to 10 percent of the amount of damages owed by the employer for violating the law if the employer is found to have violated the law at least two or more times within a three-year period. The Maryland Minimum Wage poster has been updated with information about lowering the allowable age for the subminimum wage rate and information for restaurant employers utilizing a tip credit. The poster was also updated with an increase in the minimum wage rate which will increase from $10.10 per hour to $11.00 per hour for all businesses effective January 1, 2020. The minimum wage will further increase effective January 1, 2021, from $11.00 per hour to $11.75 per hour for employers with 15 or more employees, and $11.60 per hour for employers with 14 or fewer employees. The Maryland Equal Pay for Equal Work poster has been updated to reflect two amendments to the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The first amendment requires an employer, during the hiring process, to provide the wage range for the position to which the applicant applied, and prohibits an employer from retaliating, seeking or relying on the applicant’s wage history in screening a job applicant. The second amendment prohibits employers from retaliating against an employee for inquiring about their own wages. Order Updated Poster >

The Maryland Earned Sick and Safe Leave poster has been updated to reflect an amendment to the Maryland Healthy Working Families Act. The new law amends and expands the definition of family member for paid sick leave purposes to include a legal ward of an employee as well as the legal guardian or ward of the employee’s spouse. The Maryland Child Labor poster has been updated to reflect a change to the permissible hours of employment for minors 14 and 15 years of age. The Maryland Department of Labor has aligned the permissible hours  with the more restrictive Federal Law. Order Updated Poster >

The Maryland Fair Employment poster has been updated to reflect the extension within which a person may file an employment discrimination complaint with the Maryland Commission on Civil Rights. Anyone who believes their rights have been violated under the law must file a complaint within 300 days of the alleged act of discrimination. Order Updated Poster >

The Maryland Minimum Wage poster has been updated to reflect a minimum wage increase for all employers. The minimum wage will increase from $13.25 per hour for large employers and from $12.80 per hour for small employers to $15.00 per hour for all employers effective January 1, 2024. The Maryland Child Labor poster has been updated to clarify federal and state child labor law restrictions. Employers are generally subject to both state and federal child labor provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Certain provisions of Maryland state law may be less restrictive than federal law, and employers covered by the FLSA that only follow a less restrictive provision of Maryland state law will be in violation of federal law. The Maryland Minimum Wage poster has been updated to reflect a correction to the 2024 minimum wage. The minimum wage increase effective January 1, 2024, from $13.25 per hour for large employers and from $12.80 per hour for small employers to $15.00 per hour, applies to all employers.
