March 15, 2023 New Jersey Child Labor Law Abstract
The New Jersey Child Labor Law Abstract poster has been updated with additional information for minors ages 16 and 17. A new law permits minors ages 16 and 17 to work up to 50 hours per week and up to 10 hours per day from the last day of school year to Labor Day. A new law makes it unlawful to pay any employee less than the employees of another race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, age, or country of ancestral origin for comparable work. All employers in the state of New York must make mandatory workplace postings electronically available to all employees by email or through the employer’s website. This includes all documents and information required to be physically posted at a worksite pursuant to state or federal law or regulation. Employers are still required to post these notices physically onsite as well. The law also requires employers to notify employees that these documents are available electronically.
