Connecticut Paid Sick Leave
The Connecticut Paid Sick Leave poster has been updated to reflect new legislation that significantly expands existing paid sick leave by requiring all private employers provide employees with paid sick leave no later than January 1, 2027. Beginning January 1, 2025, the new law applies to employers with 25 or more employees, expands the definition of covered employee, and broadens employee eligibility to take paid sick leave.

California Workers' Compensation
The California Workers’ Compensation poster has been updated to reflect that an employee may consult a licensed attorney to advise the employee of their rights under the workers’ compensation laws and that the attorney’s fees, in most instances, will be paid from an injured employee’s recovery. A new law requires employers to inform employees of their right to counsel in the case of a work-related injury.

Minnesota Minimum Wage

The poster was also updated with information regarding the state’s wage theft law. Wage theft occurs when an employer fails to pay wages earned by its employees, including minimum wage, overtime or other required rates of pay.

Maine Paid Family and Medical Leave
The Maine Paid Family and Medical Leave poster has been released by the Maine Department of Labor. The new Maine Paid Family and Medical Leave law will provide up to 12 weeks of paid leave for family leave, medical leave, safe leave or leave related to a family member’s impending military deployment. Payroll withholdings from employee’s pay for the program will begin on January 1, 2025 and benefits will begin in 2026. The law requires employers to post a notice in the workplace of the benefits available under the program.

The Wage Transparency Act was recently amended by the Wage Transparency Omnibus Amendment Act of 2023. The amendment requires employers to disclose pay ranges for open positions and prohibits employers from asking job applicants about their prior salary history.
