Labor Law Updates

The California Fair Employment poster has been updated to reflect that prohibited employment discrimination based on race under the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA) also includes discrimination based on hair texture and protective hairstyles. In addition, the poster was also updated with an extension of the deadline to file an allegation of unlawful workplace discrimination/harassment from one year to three years. The California Pregnancy Disability/CFRA Leave poster has been updated to reflect that the California Family Rights Act also prohibits employers from denying or interfering with requests for Pregnancy Disability Leave. The Washington Paid Family and Medical Leave poster has been released by the Washington Employment Security Department.  The new law creates the Family and Medical Leave Program which generally provides employees with up to 12 weeks of paid leave to bond with a new child, recover from an illness or injury, care for a sick or injured family member and for certain military-related events. This posting appears on the Washington Combination Poster. The Colorado Minimum Wage poster has been updated to reflect an increase in the minimum wage. Effective January 1, 2020, the minimum wage rate will increase from $11.10 an hour to $12.00 an hour for non-tipped employees and from $8.08 an hour to $8.98 an hour for tipped employees. The Illinois Minimum Wage poster has been updated to reflect an increase in the minimum wage. The minimum wage will increase from $8.25 to $9.25 per hour effective January 1, 2020. The Oklahoma Workers’ Compensation poster has been updated to reflect changes to certain deadlines when filing a claim with the Oklahoma Workers’ Compensation Commission. A new law shortens the time an employee is given to file a claim for benefits if the employee had previously received workers’ compensation benefits for an injury. In addition, the law requires an employer to send a report to the Workers’ Compensation Commission via the Commissions Electronic Data Exchange. The District of Columbia Paid Family Leave poster has been released by the District of Columbia, Department of Employment Services, Office of Paid Family Leave. The new law provides covered employees up to eight weeks of parental leave, six weeks of family leave, and two weeks of medical leave within a 52 workweek period. The new law is effective January 1, 2020 with benefits available to covered employees beginning July 2020. Order Updated Poster >

The Missouri Minimum Wage poster has been updated to reflect an increase in the minimum wage. The minimum wage will increase from $8.60 per hour to $9.45 per hour effective January 1, 2020. The Maine Child Labor poster has been updated to reflect a change to the email address for the Maine Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Standards. In addition, the poster was updated with a statement that the Maine Department of Labor provides equal opportunity in employment and programs, and auxiliary aids and services are available to people with disabilities on request.
