Labor Law Updates

The Tennessee Wage Regulation/Child Labor poster has been updated to clarify prohibited occupations for minors and when minors are not permitted to be employed. Minors 14 and 15 years of age may not be employed between 7:00 pm and 7:00 am if the next day is a school day or between 9:00 pm and 6:00 am if the next day is not a school day. The New York Fair Employment poster has been updated to reflect a new protected category. Employers are prohibited from discriminating based on citizenship or immigration status. The poster was also updated extending the statute of limitation for discrimination brought under the New York State Human Rights Law from one year to three years. Order Updated Poster >

The Virginia Unemployment Insurance poster has been updated to reflect that employers must also provide a copy of the notice to each worker at the time of separation from employment. In addition, the poster includes information an applicant needs to provide when applying for unemployment benefits. Order Updated Poster >

The California Industrial Welfare Commission (IWC) Industry Wage Orders 5 and 7, Public Housekeeping Industry and Mercantile Industry have been updated to reflect an amendment to the minimum wage for certain fast food employees. Effective April 1, 2024, certain fast food restaurant employers must pay employees $20.00 per hour for all hours worked. Order Updated Poster >

The Washington Captive Audience poster has been released in compliance with a new law protecting the rights of workers from attending meetings or listening to their employer-sponsored political or religious communications. The law prohibits employers from penalizing, discharging, or taking adverse employment action against an employee who refuses to attend employer-sponsored religious or political meetings in the workplace. The District of Columbia Minimum Wage poster has been updated to reflect an increase to the minimum wage rate. The minimum wage will increase from $17.00 per hour to $17.50 per hour effective July 1, 2024. The minimum wage for tipped employees will also increase to $10.00 per hour effective July 1, 2024. The District of Columbia Time Off To Vote poster has been updated by the District of Columbia Board of Elections. The Board of Elections has removed the various foreign language phone numbers for assistance in those languages on the time off to vote postings for the Primary Election, June 4, 2024 and the General Election, November 5, 2024. The Nevada Annual Daily Overtime Bulletin has been updated to reflect an increase to the hourly daily overtime wage rates for employees effective July 1, 2024. Employees earning less than $18.00 per hour are eligible for overtime at one and one half times the employee’s regular rate for over 8 hours of work in a 24-hour period, or over 40 hours of work in a week. Employees earning more than the hourly rate are eligible for overtime at one and one half the employee’s regular rate of pay for over 40 hours per week. Order Updated Poster >

The Nevada Annual Minimum Wage Bulletin has been updated to reflect the minimum wage effective July 1, 2024. The minimum wage will increase to $12.00 per hour for all employees. The Nevada Ballot Question 2, passed November 2022, eliminated the two-tier minimum wage as of July 1, 2024. Order Updated Poster >
