Labor Law Updates

The Nevada Paid Leave poster has been released by the Nevada Office of the Labor Commissioner. The Paid Leave Act requires employers with 50 or more employees to provide employees 0.01923 hours of paid leave for each hour worked, up to a maximum of 40 hours of paid leave per benefit year. The Nevada Employee Sick or Sustained Injury poster was released by the Nevada Office of the Labor Commissioner. The new poster informs employees that an employer cannot require employees to be present at the workplace in order to notify the employer that they cannot work due to an illness or injury unrelated to work. The Indiana OSHA poster has been updated to reflect an amendment made to the Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Act. The law was amended to increase the maximum penalty to $132,598 for each employee fatality resulting from an employer violating safety regulations. The California IWC Wage Order 17 – Miscellaneous Employees has been updated with 2019 minimum wage information. The poster now refers to IWC 2019 for information on California’s mandatory minimum wage and meal and lodging credits. Order Updated Poster >

The Georgia Workers’ Compensation Bill of Rights poster has been updated to reflect a change to the maximum average weekly wage amounts for injuries designated as catastrophic and non-catastrophic. In addition, the total compensation payable to a surviving spouse as a sole dependent at the time of death has been increased to 270,000. This posting appears on the Georgia Combination Poster. The New Jersey Minimum Wage poster has been updated to reflect an increase in the minimum wage. The minimum wage will increase from $8.85 per hour to $10.00 per hour effective July 1, 2019. Future minimum wage increases were also added to the poster applicable to most employers through 2024 and small employers and agricultural employers having smaller increases through 2027. The Massachusetts Paid Family and Medical Leave poster has been updated to reflect a change to the start date for payroll deductions to fund the paid benefits program. The Maryland Minimum Wage poster has been updated with information about lowering the allowable age for the subminimum wage rate and information for restaurant employers utilizing a tip credit. The poster was also updated with an increase in the minimum wage rate which will increase from $10.10 per hour to $11.00 per hour for all businesses effective January 1, 2020. The minimum wage will further increase effective January 1, 2021, from $11.00 per hour to $11.75 per hour for employers with 15 or more employees, and $11.60 per hour for employers with 14 or fewer employees.
